Transformation, restoration, and extension for a new 700-seat theatre. Two halls, administration, media spaces, technical workshops (sets, costumes, etc.), restaurant, cafe, etc.
Designated Heritage Site
The project is a changing global site integrated into a saturated urban fabric. The building is a tool for crea-tion with an international scope. The complex provi-des spectators with two halls, one of which is also a rehearsal and creative space with wide openings onto the Place du XX Août. This expression is the contem-porary identity of the theatre that inhabits the site. The existing building is used for the audience reception area and for audience services. The grand hall was designed in consideration of the many parameters governing the theatrical tool. The result is the creation of a new frees-tanding tier in the hall, barely supported on the floor and freeing up the walls of any connection points. All the ge-neral technical equipment was successfully integrated to maintain the coherence and spirit of the site.
