The rehabilitation of the Crespin hangar is not intended to lead to the creation of a new institutional venue, or even a new theatre. We could find other more appropriate names for this place: an artistic factory, a place for companies, a house where people live, research and work, all at the same time.
It is a place on the quays, docks, near the ships that load, the port cranes, the ferries that pass by, day and night. The idea is to create in this place of human and merchandise flows a place where people pass through, where they stop, where they work, and to invite those who make the theatre, cinema, dance, literature, music, plastic arts or architecture of today to settle there for a few months.
It is a place of company that must be built, a place inhabited by the constant presence of people who work together, who talk, read, research, experiment and create, a place that must belong to these people, be the environment and birthplace of their work. But this place must give the same sensation to the person who spends only a few days or even a few hours there.
